Privacy

Short version: the app collects nothing, and your documents never leave your device. This page sets out the detail for both the app and this website.

The Wordpad Plus app

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no analytics, no account system and no server component. This is reflected in the data-safety section of the Google Play listing, which declares no data collected and no data shared with third parties.

Your documents

Documents, journal entries, lists, saved pages and imported files are stored in the app’s private storage on your device. They are not uploaded, backed up to us, or transmitted anywhere. We cannot read them, and we cannot recover them if you lose the device — which is why the app includes manual backup and restore.

Permissions and why they exist

  • Camera — used only when you open the OCR scanner. Images are processed on the device and are not uploaded.
  • Storage / files — used only when you import a file, export a PDF, or create or restore a backup.

The local web editor

When you start a sharing session, your phone serves the documents you selected to other devices on the same local network. Nothing is sent to the internet, and the session ends when you close it. Anyone on that network who has the address can reach the shared documents while the session is running, so use it on networks you trust.

Text-to-speech

Read-aloud uses the speech engine installed on your Android device. If that engine is configured by you or your device manufacturer to use a network voice, the text being read may be processed by that engine’s provider under their policy, not ours. Selecting an offline voice in your Android settings keeps it entirely local.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone.

This website

The free tools

Every tool under /tools/ runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript on the page. Text you type or paste is never transmitted to a server, never stored and never logged. Closing the tab discards it.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard web-server logs — IP address, request time, page requested, browser user agent — for security and troubleshooting. These are retained for a limited period by the host and are not used to build profiles of visitors.

Cookies

This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies and includes no third-party analytics. WordPress may set a functional cookie if you leave a comment or log in as an administrator.

External links

Links to Google Play open a site operated by Google, which has its own privacy policy.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data from app users, there is generally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you have contacted us by email, that correspondence exists in an inbox and you can ask us to delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Material changes to the app’s data handling would also be reflected in the Play Store data-safety section.
